River & Wren is a kind market community. We’re a friendly market. A happy market.
These principles guide me in all of my market planning.
… it’s a community event …
Recently I’ve had cause to think about how I describe the market that I manage in Wagga Wagga, in country NSW, Australia.
River & Wren is a handmade market. Recently however I’ve been challenged (in a nice way) as to what exactly is River & Wren’s definition of “handmade”.
In my mind good quality and on-trend handmade, homemade or homegrown is welcomed into our market.
Last year I set myself a challenge to visit at least one Australian market every month throughout 2017.
My goal was to visit at least 12 Australian markets throughout the year and one a month seemed like a good idea at the time. As you will see, my challenge was a huge success for the first half of the year and then life took over.
There’s something very special about a market. A market is like magic, filled with possibility and excitement. I am probably at my happiest when rummaging through a market – stall after stall, unearthing new and interesting things, immersing myself in the atmosphere and the spirit of the community.
Markets are my passion.
