I recently sent out a survey to my local community seeking feedback on the River & Wren Markets, the market that I manage, and the survey results have proven that there definitely is such a thing as the Market Manager’s Dilemma.
River & Wren is a country handmade market based in Wagga Wagga in country NSW, Australia.
Over the years we have developed a reputation as a vibrant market offering good quality handmade, homemade and homegrown products in a fun, happy and friendly environment. This helps us attract an overwhelming number of shoppers to each market.
This morning I woke up to the following Instagram post from the very inspiring Simone Eyles from Working Spaces HQ in Wagga Wagga.
“Being copied is not a form of flattery. It’s a sign of laziness.
If you have no imagination and creativity, don’t copy me, there’s enough room for both our awesomeness.
A trip to Sydney means different things to different people. To me, a trip to Sydney is incomplete without visiting at least one Sydney market!
Sydney markets remind me of a time when I was young and carefree and could spend my weekends traipsing around whichever market took my fancy.
The two questions that I am most often asked are:
How many people come to River & Wren? and
How much money do stall holders make at a River & Wren Market?
The first question I can’t answer with an exact number.
